Calcium phosphate is usually extracted from rock phosphate by the addition of hydrochloric acid. The mineral is then purified & neutralized to produce Di-calcium Phosphate. Some sources extract the phosphate from bones.

A major source of supplementary phosphate of reasonable availability. Different sources and manufacturing process produce phosphorus levels ranging from 17.5% to 21.0%.
